COVID-19 Alert Level 4 does mean changes to how we can operate

Veterinary services are deemed to be an essential service during the current COVID-19 outbreak. As such, we at Eastland Vets are committed to providing essential services and supplies to our farm clients. We are currently awaiting guidelines from our parent body the NZVA, but will endeavour to provide core services that relate to animal welfare and the continuing supply of the food chain for as long as we are able to.

This is a constantly changing situation. Please accept and respect that some non-urgent routine procedures will be postponed. Unfortunately, this may lead to some inconvenience in the short term.

Pregnancy scanning

At this stage we intend to carry on with current bookings for as long as possible where likely risk is acceptable. If you have not currently booked scanning and have adequate feed requirements, we respectfully ask you to hold off in the short term. We will continue to take tentative bookings but cannot guarantee that timings will be met in a very fluid situation.

Emergency calls

We will have veterinarians and nurses available to service emergencies. Please ring the clinic number 06 867 9405 (Gisborne) or 06 838 6099 (Wairoa) during normal working hours. You will be directed to the on-call vet after hours.  Interpretation of what constitutes an emergency will be at our discretion and calls may need to be prioritised.

 Large animal shop/merchandise

Although closed, we will be taking orders for farm merchandise via phone, on the “Contact Us” tab on the EVS website www.evs.co.nz, or by email phil@evs.co.nz (Gisborne) or jason@evs.co.nz (Wairoa).   Orders will be filled as soon as practical and a collection time arranged.  We have experienced a little higher demand than usual for some product but are in regular contact with our suppliers and they are well-stocked. Please don’t over order as other people may miss out unnecessarily.

Staffing levels

We will be running split shifts to minimise contact and risk. This may mean phone calls are not attended to immediately. Please ring back after a small wait if your initial call goes unanswered. Your patience at this extremely unprecedented time is greatly appreciated. Together we will get through this.

Best wishes John and the EVS team.
